Visa Balance Transfer Offers

Ok before I go into to detail which balance transfer offer you should be going for and why. I first need to tell you about the criteria, that is needed before one can apply.

You will need to have a credit score 750 and up. So that means you need to have excellent credit history.
So you ask how will I know if I have a Excellent credit score?

  • · I have had a loan/credit card for at least 5 years
  • · I have a credit card with a credit limit greater than $10 000
  • · I have never been more than 60 days late on a credit card, medical bill or loan payment
  • · I have never declared bankruptcy

If you answered yes to all of these brilliant, but if you still are uncertain I suggest you go to TruCredit and find out your Credit Score

I compared the two following cards:
Discover More Card and Visa Capital One Platinum Prestige.

Now if you look quickly to these two cards. One would choose Discover Card, but on closer inspection you see this just not true. I will list the pros and cons and a final deduction for you to choose.

APR %:

Discover Card is at 10.99% fixed and Visa Capital One is at 8.9% Also a little side note, Discover has terms and conditions on this APR % and they leave it a very grey area. To me that’s sounds scary I mean I am paying off the Credit Card and then Federal Rates go up and they calculate the new APR % and you could big in for a tough time.

Rewards Program:

Well Visa Capital One does not have one yes this is a tragedy, but come to think of it Why is Discover APR% so high so that you actually end up paying for those rewards anyway. Look Discover does have an excellent rewards program.

Fees:

Their fees are equal, for all the normal stuff no annual card fee, 3% balance transfer fee on both. The only difference in fees are the Late Penalty fee Discover is $19 and Visa Capital one is $39.

So I base my choice on APR% because if I need to borrow money in the future I know what I will be paying in APR%. But if I am looking for a card with good rewards and run of the mill APR% then Discover card is your choice.
